Aunque habitualmente me muevo en entornos científicos, a veces algunas personas que me rodean me sorprenden con creencias irracionales en cosas tales como la homeopatía o la astrología. Siempre me he preguntando por qué la gente cree en esas cosas extrañas.
Evidentemente, no soy el único que se hace esa pregunta. Michael Shermer (Glendale, California, 1954) escritor e historiador especializado en temas científicos, fundador de la Skeptics Society, y editor de su órgano oficial Skeptic, dedicada a investigar temas pseudocientíficos y sobrenaturales, lleva mucho tiempo intentando encontrar una respuesta. I habitually move into scientific environments, but sometimes some people surprise me with irrational beliefs in things such as homeopathy or astrology. I always did asked myself, why people do believe in such strange things.
