STOP PRESS! Desastre medioambiental en Hungría/Environmental disaster in Hungary

El "barro rojo" que ha inundado 40 kilómetros cuadrados al suroeste de Hungría con un residuo tóxico, altamente contaminante, alcalino y caústico (que origina quemaduras) y con metales pesados altamente contaminantes, puede suponer un grave riesgo para la salud humana no solo en estos momentos, sino posteriormente si se inhalan los restos de polvo que queden al secarse. Ya hay cuatro muertos y 123 heridos.
El lodo, un residuo de la fabricación de aluminio muy corrosivo y conteniendo metales tóxicos como plomo, cadmio, arsénico y cromo, ha destruido toda la vegetación excepto los árboles, y se ha filtrado en cientos de casas y contaminado ríos y arroyos.
